What the shopper's assistant answered

Here are three places to start. I opened each one's own website. 1. Zillow (zillow.com) Zillow is a large listing site. Its homepage describes a search of millions of for-sale and rental listings, and its Buy menu includes homes for sale, foreclosures, for-sale-by-owner listings, open houses, new construction, and coming-soon homes. To start, pick a state or city from the "Browse Homes" list, or use the search box on the homepage. Zillow's homepage doesn't show prices or filters, so check those once you're in the search. Its site also says Zillow holds real estate brokerage licenses, so you're dealing with a brokerage platform. 2. MLS.com (mls.com) Choose this if you want listings pulled from the local Multiple Listing Services. Its site says it is a free MLS search to find real estate listings for sale by Realtors® and other realty professionals. You can browse by state, city, or ZIP code. Its price filter for sale listings runs from no minimum up to $1,000,000+. It also has separate links for foreclosures and new homes, and a link to find an agent. The homepage doesn't say how many listings it has or how current they are, so confirm details on the listing itself. 3. Homes.com (homes.com) Homes.com lets you browse by property type: houses, townhouses, condos, land, mobile homes, and open houses. Its "Homes for Sale Near Me" page showed sample Columbus, Ohio listings with prices, bedrooms, and bathrooms, such as a 560 E North Broadway St, Columbus, OH 43214 listed at $499,900 with 3 beds and 1.5 baths. Its site also offers neighborhood and school search tools and a mortgage calculator. Prices and listings change, so check the current details on the listing page. What I couldn't check: I tried to open Redfin's website, but it wouldn't load, so I can't recommend it from my own reading. Its search results did describe it as a site for national real estate and rental listings. Tip: Start with the state and city you want, then compare the same search on two sites. Each site's listing details come from different sources, so the same house can show different prices or photos.
